After Ryan Lott made an episode of the online PBS video series “The Art Assignment” with Sarah Urist Green, a former curator at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Lott met Sarah’s husband John and began collaboration on the score for his novel-to-film Paper Towns, starring Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff. In addition to composing the Paper Towns score, Son Lux contributes the song “Lost It to Trying” to the movie’s soundtrack. “Trying,” originally part of 2013 Son Lux album Lanterns, features guest vocals from Indianapolis duo Lily & Madeleine. The version on the movie’s soundtrack is billed as the “ ‘Paper Towns’ Mix,” revised to incorporate elements of Lott’s score. A string orchestra of 36 musicians was at Lott’s disposal during the score’s recording at iconic Capitol Studios in Los Angeles.
