NYC chamber ensemble yMusic will release their new album, First, via their own Communal Table Records. The record was composed entirely by Ryan as Son Lux, produced by Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman), and structured like a rock album with 11 tracks, a 40-minute running time and a distinct side-A/side-B feel.

Son Lux and yMusic have enjoyed a rich history of collaboration. When yMusic was brainstorming about collaborators for its debut record, the name Son Lux kept coming up. The result of our initial contact was "Beautiful Mechanical," the title track of their debut album. Later, when chosen by NPR’s All Songs Considered to create and document an album in a single month, Son Lux called on all the members of yMusic, in various configurations, to contribute notes and improvisations. Through skillful manipulation, Son Lux created We Are Rising, using yMusic as an endlessly malleable sonic weapon.
